I got a gig! I got a gig!
Posted by: Tasos Alvas in Creations, tags: Creations, Graphics, MusicOn Tuesday, June 5, I will be performing live in café Dionysos, in Lixouri, Kefalonia.

It’s been about 4 or 5 years I haven’t done that, and I’m quite looking forward to it. It’ll probably be just me with a classical and a borrowed 12-string guitar (being thus fully prepared for the case someone will like to jam in at some point). The show should start at 11:00.
This is the poster I made for the occasion
Lixouri is a small village, and 5 or 10 of them should cover all points of interest (being primarily the university). You can find a better version of the image at my DeviantART page.
So, regarding the work all these need
I’ve spent about 16 hours on the poster, and quite a lot more preparing the 3 hour show (that can, as it probably will have to, shrink to about 2 hours). It has lots of 60s and 70s psychedelic rock in it (stuff like Barrett, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Donovan and Kevin Ayers); some rockier stuff, such as Edgar Broughton Band, Modest Mouse, The Smiths and The Velvet Underground; and some more funky and jazzy stuff by Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart. It is divided in two sets, each with a classic guitar and a 12-string guitar part, with a small break in the middle –for which I’ve made a playlist that hopefully will get to play–. Also, I’m still thinking about squeezing in one or two of my songs.
I’ll try to arrange with the place’s sound technician to have the whole thing recorded and then maybe I’ll up it somewhere. That would be really nice because I don’t have a good demo for this kind of act, and it could prove a useful thing to have.
The poster! Did you notice the poster?
The poster was made with open source vector and bitmap image manipulation tools, namely the GIMP and Inkscape, and a Wacom Volito2 graphic tablet (for which I’m very happy about, although it’s starting to wear out after 2 years). Some of the images, such as my self portrait, the octafish and the tree have been hand drawn (while in class) and then scanned and coloured, and some (like the clouds or the village in the background) are vector graphics, taken from a library of stock images I’ve been building up for sometime now (another thing I’m quite happy to see being of some use).
